Windows 7 Clean Reinstall, Delete Recovery Partition Or Not?

Question by : Windows 7 Clean Reinstall, Delete Recovery Partition Or Not?
I’m positive I downloaded a keylogger or infection of some sort that is trying to hack my internet accounts. I have decided to do a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit of which I have the disk for. I see that on my computer there is a recovery partition and an OEM reserved partition? I know to delete the OS partition but is it safe to delete the recovery partition and reserved partition? Does the recovery partition reinstall itself or is there a way to recreate the recovery files? I’m paranoid that perhaps my recovery files are infected if that is possible.
Thank you!

Answer by The Technomancer
Recovery Partition Files CAN be infected by particularly nasty viruses. If you intend to reload, it’s best to avoid the “what if” altogether and format the recovery partition as long as you can re-acquire the correct drivers afterward.

Most OEM software is throwaway garbage that gets uninstalled at first boot anyway.

Random programs keep booting with Windows 7! Help!?

Question by : Random programs keep booting with Windows 7! Help!?
Ok so theres this wiered little application which I think maybe a keylogger and it keeps trying to start with Windows 7. Luckily when the program attepts to start upon loging in to my account I am greeted with an annoying message which tell me that application path could not be specified. When I close it or press ok it pops up once more and then after pressing ok again sices to do so….. I have disabled and deleted startup entries for the application in both ccleaner and tuneup utilities 2012 however it keeps on somehow allowing its self back in to the ‘things that are ok to boot’ club of my computer! Not that this is really damaging to my PC I am simply finding it increasingly annoy and causing my computer to be around 20 seconds slower once i have logged in….. please anyone got any suggestions :P thanks for your help!
Hmm not yet thanks ill look into it :P

I installed windows 8 beta on my windows xp and now the sound wont work?

Question by : I installed windows 8 beta on my windows xp and now the sound wont work?
I successfully installed windows 8 on my windows xp computer and now the speakers wont work neither will my headphones or microphone. It says to enable windows audio service i click yes and then it says no audio devices installed. what do i do?

Best answer:

Answer by Bill
Go to your computer manufacturer’s website. See if there’s already an audio driver available for your model.

If there’s none yet, wait until they come up with one. That’s the price to pay for using beta versions. It’s not a finished product yet and the developers are still adjusting their applications and drivers to make them work on Windows 8. If the manufacturer didn’t come up with a Windows 8 driver then sorry, they have abandoned your old hardware.

There is no way of rolling back to Windows 7.
That information is on the download page.

“Notes about installing the Windows Developer Preview
You can’t uninstall the Windows Developer Preview. To reinstall your previous operating system, you must have restore or installation media”

You should have been more careful :-(
